WHO’S “ME”?

You can call me Johann. But don't expect me to answer to that.

My name is Bill.

One morning in 2009 I awoke and realized I wanted to accomplish a few things before my next birthday. So I designed a one-year regimen that immersed me in four of mankind's finest achievements, from literature to music. And a lot in between.

So, starting June 2009, I spent 70 days reading all of Hemingway's novels, 81 days watching every Oscar-winning movie, 30 days studying Aristotle's Poetics, and 180 days listening to everything Mozart composed.

I took a year off and then started up again on June 30, 2011, with 27 Days With Billy Wilder And Me, an exploration of every movie the great director ever, uh, directed.

Now, in this fool's errand, starting July 28, 2011, I'll spend 155 non-stop days listening to everything Johann Sebastian Bach composed.

What sounded harsh to my ears with CD 1 (Brandenburg Concertos 1-3) because of the period instruments now sounds exactly right. Perhaps I’ve gotten used to their tone.
